PLACES TO VISIT UPON MAUI

 

 

 

Maui is a beautiful Island with many points of interest.  Mila and Oa have not been upon Maui since 2001 but do recall some of the beautiful places to sightsee and enjoy.

 

 

HALEAKALA CRATER: 

There is a volcanic exhibit center and magnificent views from the top of Haleakla Crater.  Many like to journey early in the day to witness the sunrise.  However any time of day is beautiful as one is above the cloud line at over 8000 feet in altitude.  Often you will also see Nenes or the Hawaiian Geese in this region too along with other unusual flora and fauna unique to the crater.  There are also bike tours in which you can ride down from the crater to the bottom that can also be enjoyable.  See the following link for bike tour info:  http://www.mauiinformationguide.com/bike-the-volcano.php

 

 

ROAD TO HANA:  Driving around the north side of the island is a beautiful treat as there are many lovely waterfalls and other scenic landscape to enjoy and photograph.  This is a full day trip in which you can be on the road for a total of 5 hours, 2.5 in each direction to Hana and you can stop at many sights including beautiful waterfalls.  Hana town has some lovely shops and restaurants to visit or dine.  There is also the "Seven Sacred Pools" beyond Hana town that hosts a series of waterfalls that can be hiked and enjoyed.  See the following link for more info:  http://www.mauiinformationguide.com/road-to-hana.php

 

 

 

BEACHES: There are some really beautiful beaches to explore if you enjoy the sun and sea.  Napili Beach is close to the Royal Lahaina and a good for walking as well as swimming.  Mila also recalls Big Beach in the Keihei area which has lovely sandy shores and mild waves.  Remember to bring your suntan lotion (with Jajoba oil) and an umbrella as the tropical sun can be very intense.  See the following link for more information on Maui Beaches:  http://www.mauiinformationguide.com/best-beaches.php

 

 

 

SNORKELING: There are many beaches in which you can explore the reefs and snorkel upon Maui.  There are shops you can rent snorkel gear from; or inexpensively purchase your own gear at Longs Drugstores or Walmart.  Snorkeling is an inexpensive way to enjoy the sea and commune with the water life.  There are also boat tours to experience a reef known as Molakini that can be quite enjoyable.  See the following link for more information:  http://www.mauiinformationguide.com/maui-snorkeling-maps.php

SUMMARY:  There is much to see and do upon the isle of Maui.
